But Cyrus took to twitter on Monday to shoot down the rumors, saying, "I'm not engaged. I've worn this same ring on this finger since November! People just wanna find something to [talk] about! It's a topaz people!"

The saga continues at Oprah Winfrey's struggling cable network OWN, which announced today that 30 staffers in the Los Angeles and New York offices had been let go as a result of restructuring.
"It is difficult to make tough business decisions that affect people's lives but the economics of a start-up cable network just don't work with the cost structure that was in place," Winfrey says in a statement to USA TODAY. "As CEO, I have a responsibility to chart the course for long-term success for the network. To wholly achieve that long-term success, this was a necessary next step."
"MTV gets ready for fist pumps and baby bumps," the statement begins, adding that production is set to start this summer at the infamous abode in Seaside Heights, NJ. "America's favorite housemates will all return to their home-away-from-home, and the house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory . . .as their lives outside the "Shore" take off in exciting new directions."
Teases a rep for the pint-sized reality star to Us: "There will be a big change, that's for 'shore,' " this season! Viewers will have to wait and see... "
It's doubtful that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 22, will actually live with her six pals in the house. She first broke new exclusively to Us Weekly that she was pregnant with her first child -- and engaged to the daddy-to-be, Jionni LaValle.
Furthers a source: "She's not going to be staying in the house -- no way."

Bobby Brown is about to make a money grab by leeching onto his daughter, the sole heir to WhitneyHouston's fortune -- at least that's what Whitney's mom and other family members believe.
Family sources tell TMZ ... Cissy Houston is aggressively trying to block Bobby from getting close to 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina, fearing it's just a ploy to line his pockets.
The family is convinced ... Bobby is broke, and he's making a play for his daughter's affection to latch on to what could be an estate worth around $20 million, and that figure could double by the end of this year.

Whitney HoustonFamily Told She Died from RxNOT Drowning
Whitney Houston's family was told by L.A. County Coroner officials ... the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol ... this according to family sources.
We're told Coroner's officials informed the family there was not enough water in Whitney's lungs to lead to the conclusion that she drowned.
Our sources say the family was told Whitney may well have died before her head became submerged.
And family sources tell us ... it was actually Whitney's aunt, Mary Jones, who discovered Whitney's body in the bathtub. Mary had laid out Whitney's dress for the evening on the bed and the left for about a half hour. When Whitney didn't come out of the bathroom, Mary entered, pulled Whitney out of the tub and began administering CPR.
And we're told ... Whitney's mom has arranged to have the singer's body flown back to Atlanta, as early as tomorrow. The family was told the Coroner has no problem releasing the body because there is no evidence of foul play -- and unless cops put a hold on the body, it can be flown back East. -TMZ

WHITNEY HOUSTON DEAD AT AGE 48
As you most certainly know by now, WHITNEY HOUSTON was found dead in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday afternoon. She was only 48 years old. The cause of death hasn't been determined yet.
--An autopsy was performed yesterday, but as usual, the results of toxicology tests won't be available for several weeks. Even the preliminary results are being kept under wraps.
--TMZ reports that Whitney was discovered in the bathtub with her face underwater and her legs up, as if she had slid down while sitting back in the tub.
--A stylist, a hairdresser and two bodyguards were in Whitney's room at the time. They started becoming suspicious when they realized Whitney had been in the bathroom for over an hour.
--They knocked, but there was no answer. So the hairdresser . . . who's a woman . . . went in and found her in the tub. One of the bodyguards attempted CPR, but it was already too late. (--Is it too soon to ask where the hell Kevin Costner was? Probably. Sorry.)
--When the paramedics arrived, they pronounced Whitney dead at 3:55 P.M. (--Here's a picture of Whitney's covered body being wheeled through the hotel on a gurney.) (TMZ)

--The party went on as scheduled, and while it wasn't a complete downer, sources say Clive was very broken up about Whitney's death.

--Whitney's debut album, "Whitney Houston", became the best-selling debut album by a female act at the time of its release in 1985. Her second album, "Whitney", became the first by a female artist to debut at #1 on the "Billboard"album chart.
--Whitney has sold 200 million albums worldwide.
--Of course, there are those who'll only remember Whitney as one half of the most dysfunctional pop duo of all time, along with BOBBY BROWN.

Big "X Factor" Changes: The Show Has Lost Nicole Scherzinger and Host Steve Jones . . . and Maybe Paula Abdul
When "X Factor" comes back for its second season in the fall, NICOLE SCHERZINGER will not be a judge . . . STEVE JONES will not be the host . . . and PAULA ABDUL may be back at home on her couch.
--Last night, Steve Tweeted, quote, "I won't be hosting next seasons 'X Factor', which is a shame, but I can't complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show."
-Obviously, it sounds like Steve was essentially FIRED. Last month, Steve said, quote, "Fingers crossed, I'd love to come back . . . if they want me back, great. If they don't, I'll do something else, it's as simple as that."
--But Nicole's situation may have been different.
--A "source close to Nicole" tells E! News, quote, "She wants to focus on her music career. She's spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he's given her his blessing. 'X Factor' took a lot more of her time than she ever expected."
--Nicole hasn't commented, but Fox has confirmed that Nicole and Steve are out.
--Nobody's saying it, but I'd be surprised if the RACHEL CROW incident wasn't a huge deciding factor for both Nicole and Steve leaving the show.
--Remember how tore up Nicole got when she was forced to break that little girl's heart? She probably decided she just couldn't go through something like that again.
--And don't get me started on Steve Jones. He's one of the main things that INFURIATED me about the show . . . especially when it came to the insensitive way he'd cut off anyone trying to console one of the devastated younger singers.

--Deadline.com broke the news, somewhat melodramatically calling the whole situation a "bloodbath."
--The site credits news of Paula's departure to a so-called "Simon Cowell insider" . . . who, for what it's worth, also says, quote, "none of the three left on their own accord, [it was] cleaning house day at the so-so rated series."
--As you may recall, Simon infamously predicted that "X Factor" would average 20 million viewers, but it never came close to that. Instead, it hovered around 12.4 million viewers.
Elton John's Super Bowl Advice for Madonna: "Make Sure You Lip-Sync Good"
Earlier this month, ELTON JOHN'S husband DAVID FURNISH seemed to smooth things over with MADONNA . . . after he and Elton slammedher during the "Golden Globes". But yesterday, Elton added a little more fuel to the fire.
--In an interview on "Good Morning America", Elton was asked if he had any advice for Madonna regarding her halftime show at the Super Bowl this Sunday.
--And he did. He said, quote, "Make sure you lip-sync good."
--Elton has never done a Super Bowl halftime show, and he said he wouldn't because, quote, "I've never seen a decent one. Never ever." However, he later added, quote, "To be honest with you, I saw the [ROLLING] STONES and I saw PRINCE and I thought they were pretty good."
--Naturally, his biggest problem with the halftime show is the lip-synching, but he admitted it IS difficult to perform live at the Super Bowl.
--He said, quote, "I don't think you can. In all fairness to everyone who has done it before, I think you may be able to sing live, but it's really hard to play live."
(--The producers probably PREFER an artist to lip-sync. There's only a few moments to set that stage up . . . and if the artist is performing live, every piece of equipment must be set up perfectly in order for it to go off without a hitch.)

Was Demi Moore Hospitalized For Doing Whip-Its?
TMZ claims that DEMI MOORE ended up in the hospital for doing WHIP-ITS . . . which means she was inhaling NITROUS OXIDE. (--It's not exactly something you'd expect a 49-year-old to be doing. Especially not a FILTHY RICH 49-year-old.)
(--Either way, it's not clear if Demi was using those little metal nitrous oxide canisters or going totally low-rent by huffing the gas from a can of whipped cream.)
--A source says the nitrous caused a SEIZURE and Demi lapsed into semi-consciousness. That's when her friend called 911.
--Meanwhile, RadarOnline.com says Demi is being treated for ANOREXIA. A source says, quote, "She has not taken care of her health at all lately and has lost a ton of weight."
--And then there's this: Several sources are reporting that Demi was partying pretty hard with her daughter RUMER a few weeks before her hospitalization. They hit up a club called Beacher's Madhouse on January 11th.

William Shatner Has Been Killed Off as the Priceline Negotiator
Characters are killed off on TV shows and in movie franchises all the time. But have you ever heard of it happening in a COMMERCIAL? You have now.
--Priceline.com has killed off WILLIAM SHATNER'S character, the Priceline Negotiator, as part of a new re-branding strategy. But at least he goes out in a blaze of glory. Or, if you want to get technical, an exploding bus.

--The reason Priceline killed the Negotiator is because they're moving away from their "name-your-own-price" system.

Alec Baldwin Was Kicked Off an Airplane . . . For Playing "Words With Friends"
ALEC BALDWIN boarded an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City yesterday afternoon . . . but got booted from the plane before takeoff. Why? Because he was playing "WORDS WITH FRIENDS". (???)
--For those of you who don't know, Words With Friends is basically Scrabble for your smart phone. You can also play it on Facebook. You can play it with people you know or hook up with random opponents.
--As you may know, airline passengers are required to turn off all electronic devices during takeoff and landing. But since the plane hadn't even begun taxiing yet, Alec thought it was cool to keep playing. He was wrong.
--Alec Tweeted, quote, "Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt."
--He added, quote, "But, oddly, 30 Rock plays inflight on American. #theresalwaysunited."
--Another passenger Tweeted, quote, "On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait."
--TMZ claims that it was the pilot who yanked Alec from the plane . . . but not just because of the game.
--A source says that after Alec's altercation with the flight attendant, he got up to use the bathroom. And he slammed the lavatory door so hard, the captain heard it. So he made the call to boot him.

Terrence Howard's Wife Says He Beats Her and Threatens to Kill Her
TERRENCE HOWARD doesn't have the best reputation with women. This isn't going to help:
--Terrence's estranged wife Michelle got a restraining order against him . . . claiming he's been beating her up since just a week after they got married in January of 2010. He has also frequently threatened to kill her.
--Here are some of the things Michelle says Terrence did to her:
. . . Slugged her across her face and neck and threatened to throw her off a balcony.
. . . Smacked her in the face and chipped her tooth with his wedding ring.
. . . Threw her to the ground in a parking lot.
. . . Issued various threats such as "I'll hit a woman quicker than I'd hit a man" . . . and, "If you tell anyone about my personal business, I will kill you and no one will ever know."
--Terrence has filed his own papers, claiming Michelle is full of it. He also accuses her of threatening to, quote, "release private materials to third parties for her own personal financial gain" unless he paid her money.

Brian Williams Ignores a Fire Alarm on the "NBC Nightly News"
One of the most important things we're taught in school is to NEVER IGNORE A FIRE ALARM. But on the "NBC Nightly News" last night, that's exactly what BRIAN WILLIAMS did.
--The fire alarm went off at the beginning of thebroadcast, and even though it was loud and annoying, Brian only stopped to tell viewers what all the noise was, and to let them know that he wasn't in any danger.

Conrad Murray Got the Maximum: Four Years Behind Bars
CONRAD MURRAY received the MAXIMUM sentence . . . four years in prison . . . for administering a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol to MICHAEL JACKSONin June of 2009.
--In announcing his sentence yesterday, the judge said ,quote, "[Murray] violated the trust of the medical community, of his colleagues and of his patient.
--"And he has absolutely no sense of remorse, absolutely no sense of fault, and is and remains dangerous."
--He added that Murray was, quote, "involved in a cycle of horrible medicine [and] engaged in a recurring continuous pattern of deceit, of lies" . . . and that he "engaged in this money for medicine madness that simply is not going to be tolerated by me."
--Prosecutors also want Murray to pay $100 MILLION in restitution . . . which is supposedly the amount of money Michael would have earned if he'd completed the series of concerts he was rehearsing for when he died.
--A hearing on that was put off for another day. (--And let's be honest here: Michael has earned WAY MORE dead than he would have if he'd lived these last few years.)

Miley Cyrus Called Herself a "Stoner" . . . But Was She Kidding?
MILEY CYRUS celebrated her 19th birthday last Tuesday night at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. And KELLY OSBOURNEhosted.
-One of the highlights was the presentation of Miley's cake . . . which had a picture of Reggae superstar BOB MARLEYon it.
--When Miley saw it, she told the crowd, quote, "You know you're a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake. You know you smoke way too much [effing] weed!"
--Kelly replied, quote, "I thought salvia was your problem."

Michael Lohan Was Arrested for Assaulting His Girlfriend After She Refused Him an Oral Experience
LINDSAY LOHAN'S psycho dad MICHAELwas arrested early yesterday morning for allegedly assaulting his on-and-off girlfriend Kate Majorin her Tampa, Florida apartment.
--Kate says Michael attacked her because she refused to provide him with an ORAL EXPERIENCE. She claims he threw a remote control at her, broke her cell phone, threatened to slit both their wrists, and threatened to throw her off a balcony.
--And she suffered minor injuries when he tried to prevent her from calling the cops . . . on her landline, obviously. (--Check out her 911 calls)
--She also told the cops that Michael banged his own head on a door and said he was going to blame the injury on her.
--Michael complained of chest pains when police tried to arrest him . . . so they took him to the hospital briefly before booking him.
--Now check THIS out: Michael tried to sneak out of the hospital by signing himself out, but the cops caught him, and dragged him to the police station still in his gown.

--Michael and Kate weren't JUST fighting about sex. They actually had a court hearing scheduled for yesterday concerning a restraining order Kate already had against Michael because he had assaulted her back in March.

--Monday night into Tuesday morning is when all the chaos erupted. The fight actually started over the court hearing . . . with Michael demanding that she drop the restraining order.

According to TMZ, LINDSAY LOHAN is posing for "Playboy". And she'll get somewhere between $750,000 and a million dollars.
--Yesterday, E! Online, reported how she was in the midst of doing a, quote, "top secret photo shoot" at a Beverly Hills mansion that started yesterday and finishes up today.
--They asked her rep if she's doing "Playboy" and he said, quote, "I can neither confirm nor deny at this time."
--"Playboy" won't talk either. A rep said, quote, "We don't comment on rumors about who may or may not be posing for the magazine . . . if anything changes, I'll be sure to let you know."
(--Such a huge payout makes sense. They've probably been after Lindsay since the exact second she turned 18. And I'm sure she'd command one of the highest salaries "Playboy" has paid out in years.)

Lindsay Lohan Was Denied by the Lead Singer of Foster the People
LINDSAY LOHANfollowed up her morgue duty by hitting a West Hollywood club on Saturday night. And she had her sights set on MARK FOSTER. . . the lead singer of the band FOSTER THE PEOPLE. But he wasn't interested.
--A source says, quote, "Mark turned his back every time Lindsay came to the table to talk. He did not want to be associated with her." But the band did hang with other celebrities . . . including Dane Cook, Nicky Hilton, and "Transformers" director MichaelBay.
Lindsay Lohan Showed Up Early For Community Service Friday . . . and She Brought Food
LINDSAY LOHAN spent Friday doing janitorial work at the L.A. County Morgue . . . and check this out: She showed up for her duties almost 90 minutes EARLY.
--Lindsay was supposed to be there at 7:00 A.M. Her rep says she was there at 5:35
--Lindsay had three dozen cupcakes sent to the morgue in the morning to make up for being late the previous day . . . but the delivery guy was TURNED AWAY.
--Assistant Coroner Ed Winter said, quote, "I had a discussion with Lindsay and she advised that she did not know the person who ordered the cupcakes.
--"We discussed the issue of these types of incidents and that we would not allow such activity. I think that she got the message."
--At lunchtime, Lindsay reportedly ordered In-N-Out Burger for herself and the other volunteers. Strangely, Winter claims this did NOT happen.
--But her rep says, quote, "The report that Lindsay had lunches brought in for the other volunteers is completely accurate despite any claims to the contrary."
--Meanwhile, a source tells TMZ that Lindsay saw her first dead body Friday . . . and she was, quote, "shocked". She also "covered her mouth in horror" when she first saw linens that were stained with blood and other bodily fluids.
--But she's maintaining a positive attitude and even talking to the other people in her group.
--We'll probably never see Lindsay toiling away inside the morgue. Staff has been warned that anyone caught taking pictures or video of Lindsay will be immediately terminated.

Lindsay Lohan Was Handcuffed and Led Out of Court After Her Probation Was Revoked
LINDSAY LOHAN was HANDCUFFED and led out of court yesterday, after Judge Stephanie Sautner FINALLY got hardcore with her and revoked her probation.
She was immediately released on $100,000 bail, and she's due back in court November 2nd. At that point, they'll officially determine if she'd violated her probation and what new punishments she'll face, if any.
--Obviously, jail time is a possibility. But if that happens, it could just be another situation where they check her in, then check her right back out because of prison overcrowding.
--Ahead of yesterday's hearing, the probation department gave Lindsay a glowing review . . . which Judge Sautner basically said was B.S. (--You can read the report here.)
--She was mostly concerned with Lindsay being booted from that women's shelter for missing NINE scheduled appointments. And she refused to accept Lindsay being reassigned to the Red Cross.
--She said, quote, "No one has the power to change my sentence. Not the volunteer center and not probation. She is not getting credit for any time at the American Red Cross."
--Lindsay's lawyer noted to the judge that the department's review said Lindsay has, quote, "reached a turning point in her accountability and maturity."
--And the judge replied, quote, "Failing to show up nine times is reaching a turning point in her maturity?"
--Lindsay was given a year to complete her community service. And even though she still has six months to go, Judge Sautner was NOT happy with her progress.
--She noted that Lindsay still has about 57 of her required 60 days left to do.
--Here's something that REALLY got under the judge's skin: The probation report stated that Lindsay didn't like working at the women's shelter because it wasn't, quote, "fulfilling" for her.
--Judge Sautner said, quote, "Is that what a sentence is about? Is it supposed to fulfill the defendant, or is it supposed to be rehabilitative and / or punitive?"
--She's also said she doubts that Lindsay has attended all her court-ordered weekly counseling sessions, because she's spent so much time out of the country.
--Then she dropped one other bomb on Lindsay: Until her November 2nd hearing, Lindsay MUST work a minimum of two days a week at the L.A. County Morgue . . . for a minimum of eight hours a day.
--Lindsay's original sentence was 360 hours at the shelter and 120 at the morgue, for a total of 480 hours.
--Lindsay will do janitorial work at the morgue, like emptying trash, vacuuming and cleaning toilets. She might see corpses, but a police spokesman says, quote, "She will not be touching, handling or processing any dead people."
--Oh . . . and here's one last jab from Judge Sautner to Lindsay's attorney . . . quote, "She is supposed to be an actress from what I hear. I don't know how much acting work she's done or is doing."
The Movie River Phoenix Was Working On When He Died Is Finally Coming Out
When RIVER PHOENIXdied of a drug overdose on Halloween night, 1993, he was working on a movie called "Dark Blood". It ended up being shelved . . . but now, it's finally going to be finished and released.
--Director GEORGE SLUIZERsays he HID the footage after River died, because he was afraid it would be confiscated and destroyed. (--By whom, you ask? He didn't say.)
--But Sluizer thinks he can finally finish it by re-cutting the footage and getting some new voiceover work from River's younger brother JOAQUIN PHOENIX.
--He says, quote, "The voices of both brothers are very much alike."
--In the movie, River plays a hermit living on a nuclear test site waiting for the end of the world. When he comes to the aid of a couple whose car breaks down in the desert, the three of them end up in a love triangle.
(--River was on a break from filming when he died of an overdose of cocaine and heroin outside of the Viper Room in Los Angeles. He had also taken marijuana, Valium and a cold medicine.)

Demi Moore Just Keeps Getting Thinner
It seems impossible to argue that DEMI MOORE has gotten TOO SKINNY. Is it depression due to ASHTON KUTCHER'S cheating? We don't know. But it's pretty obvious that she's NOT EATING.

The Guy Who Played Random Task in the First "Austin Powers" Is Now Accused of Killing His Cellmate
Remember JOE SON? He's the Korean-born actor who played the villain Random Task in the first "Austin Powers"movie.
--Earlier this year, Joe was sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON for his part in the brutal torture and gang rape of a woman back in 1990.
--Well, he's now accused of KILLING HIS CELLMATE. Joe was bunking with a 50-year-old sex offender, who was serving a two-year sentence for failing to register.
--Guards at Wasco State Prison in central California discovered the man's body on Monday.
--There's no word how the man died. Son is just a suspect at this point. An investigation is underway.

BEYONCÉ'S rep is denying rumors that the baby bump she lugged with her to an Australian talk show over the weekend was FAKE. He called this chaos, quote, "stupid, ridiculous and false."

"Us Weekly"scored the first interview with ASHTON KUTCHER'S alleged mistress Sara Leal. . . and in case there was any doubt, she does indeed claim she slept with Ashton on September 24th. TWICE.
--Sara says he, quote, "just came up and kissed me" . . . which led to her and another girl being naked in a hot tub with Ashton on his hotel room balcony.
--She says, quote, "I didn't think it was out of the ordinary. I wasn't self-conscious about getting naked."
--Ashton told her that he and DEMI MOORE were separated. She believed him . . . and pretty soon she was in his bedroom. She says, quote, "He lost his towel and I took my robe off. Then we had sex."

With rumors exploding all over the Internet that she's pregnant, JESSICA SIMPSON was photographed at Los Angeles International Airport over the weekend looking extra-husky.

--But Friday night, Ashton and Demi were spotted at Kabbalah services in Los Angeles. A witness says they, quote, "walked out with their arms wrapped around each other's waists."

"Infomercial King" Don Lapre Committed Suicide in Jail
DON LAPRE . . . the so-called "Infomercial King" . . . was found dead in his Arizona jail cell Sunday morning of an apparent suicide.
--The cause of death hasn't been released, but anonymous law enforcement sources told TMZ that a large amount of blood was found in Lapre's cell, leading them to believe he cut himself. There's no word what he may have used.
--Lapre was set to go on trial TODAY on 41 counts of conspiracy, fraud and other charges related to his "Greatest Vitamin in the World" business. Lapre was accused of defrauding 220,000 people out of nearly $52 million.
